Let's Pratice some function rules!

Let's use the function: y = x + 1
Our Domain will be: {1, 2, 3, 4, 5}

Now, complete the table using this function: y = x = 1

Input x 1 2 3 4 5
Output y

***********

Got it? Good! Let's try this one!
Domain: {0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5}
Function: y = 2x + 1

Input x01234
Output y

*********

OK, terrific! Now, let's see if we can figure out the function by looking at a completed table.
First, here's some hints:

(1) If the x value gets smaller, the pattern probably has to do with division or subtraction.
(2) If the y value gets larger, the pattern probably has to do with multiplication of addition.

Hint: On the first table try subtraction.

Important: check the pattern with at least three (x,y) values. Here we go!

Input x1520213042
Output y712132234

What is the pattern you discovered?

So let's write the function: y =

Good job!

***********

Here's another; the same thing:

Find the pattern and the function that applies to this table:

Input x12345
Output y816243240

What's the pattern?

So the function would be: y =

Remarkable and Awesome!!!
